2026 FIFA World Cup Schedule in Fiji Time (FJT)

The globe got to know about the FIFA World Cup for the very first time in 1930 when Uruguay hosted the tournament with only 13 teams taking part in it. The FIFA World Cup has grown into the most-watched sporting event on the planet. Held every four years, it has delivered defining moments across generations — from legendary players to unforgettable finals.

In recent tournaments, the balance of power has remained fiercely competitive. European and South American teams have continued to dominate the latter stages, while nations from other confederations have increasingly shown they can challenge at the highest level.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be a 48-team tournament for the first time. The participating countries are split into twelve groups of four, and each team plays three matches during the group stage.

The first and second-ranked teams based on the performance during the group stages gain direct entry to the knockout stage, where they are joined by the eight best third-placed teams. This is the start of the new Round of 32, which means more knockout matches than ever before.

From the Round of 32 onwards, the competition is a knockout all the way through to the final, scheduled to take place on 19 July 2026. If you play a bad match, then you’re out.

With the World Cup hosted in North America, most matches will be played in the early morning hours in Fiji, with kick-offs typically ranging from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM FJT, depending on the venue and match slot.

The opening featuring Mexico and South Africa will be televised in Fiji on 12 June 2026 at 7:00 AM (FJT), while the marquee final will be played on 20 July 2026 at 7:00 AM (FJT).
